The Funny thing about that whole Situation was Fitzgerald knew who it was that leaked Plames Identity on the first day and went ahead with an investigation now why did he do that? Richard Armitage was the one who did it Scooter Libby had nothing to do with it that is why this whole thing was travesty in my eyes. President Bush had nothing to do with it and there was a big argument about wether she even was undercover.

By the way, what do you mean by Abusing the CIA for Politcal Ends?

Nate: please don't go for the personal attacks. I've known Jason for a long time. He's a really good guy, and what do different political opinions matter compared to that?

I actually think that commuting Scooter Libby's sentence was the only honorable course open to President Bush. If the man has any virtues, one of them is his loyalty to his subordinates and consiglieres. You can't ask someone to go commit crimes for you, and then hang them out to dry when they're caught.

And anyways, I'd rather that Bush and the GOP take the political hit for abusing the CIA to political ends, than see Scooter Libby actually go to jail. Now we can hang this around the necks of every Republican running for president: "Do you support the decision to pardon a lawyer convicted of damaging our national security?", "Do you think perjury and obstruction of justice are no big deal? What other felonies do you not object to?", "Do you think President Clinton's perjury was more or less important than this? So why did you vote to impeach?", etc.

The base wants to hear one thing, and two-thirds of the country wants to hear another. That dynamic is going to destroy the current incarnation of the GOP, and why not help further the cause?
